Residential Services

Our Care Framework is designed to be flexible and responsive to the individual needs of our young people and provide a holistic approach to their care. We aim to nurture, support and help them reach their potential through providing them with a better quality of life and hope for a brighter future.

A Multi-Dimensional, Theory Based and Trauma Informed Approach

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) is a trauma-informed crisis prevention and management system developed by Cornell University. It is implemented through various research-informed strategies including organisational assessment, active and targeted data analysis, training and technical assistance, All of which enables our team to identify and develop the right care approach and plan for the child.

Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based and person-centred approach that uses a multi-component intervention and assessment process to support the child. Trauma can impact all parts of a child's physical, emotional and mental health, PBS incorporates all facets of the child to ensure a holistic approach to care, support and pathways towards dealing with and recovering from trauma.

The Saoirse Project

In addition to our therapeutic and behavioural systems we have an activity-based intervention programme – The Saoirse Project. This programme provides an opportunity for young people to learn vital life skills, understand the value of focusing on health and fitness in the long term and gives them a chance to grow as people in a non-clinical setting.

Education and Learning

In Odyssey Social Care we are committed to supporting our young people in attending and reaching their full potential in educational settings. We work hard to build positive relationships with the schools our children attend and their teachers within them.

However, mainstream educational settings can be difficult for some of our young people to navigate and they can become overwhelmed. For this reason, there might be times when we seek alternative methods of schooling for our children such as Youth Reach or homeschooling. In these instances the decision is always made by a multidisciplinary team with the child’s voice being at the centre.

Referral To External Supports

We have built good relationships with external psychologists, psychotherapists, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, GPs, Equine Therapists, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS), teachers, and other community-based services. Should a need arise for a young person we refer them to an appropriate service in a timely manner.

We advocate tirelessly for our young people during this process, facilitate travel to and from appointments, and implement any interventions recommended that are in their best interests. We are committed to working collaboratively not only within our own community in Odyssey Social Care but with other communities which support us and our young people.

Our Locations – Making Homes, Healing Lives

In each of our fourteen homes across 8 counties, we create safe, predictable and nurturing home-like environments where the children in our care can heal, learn, rest and reconnect with themselves and society.

NEW SERVICE NOW OPEN

NEW SERVICE OPEN

Odyssey Social Care is honoured to announce the opening of our new separated children seeking international protection centre.

‘We are thrilled to finally be opening our first Separated Children Seeking Asylum service in Wicklow. This project came up against some barriers in terms of the building layout which delayed our ability to have the house ready. After sheer persistence, hard work and relentless positivity, we are open! This is a new avenue for Odyssey Social Care, and we are delighted to be a part of the provision of these important services. These young people are at such a pivotal time in their lives and we can create a sense of safety and security for them. A big thank you to our Service Manager Saoirse Doyle who led this project and got it all over the line!’ – Stacey Haide McGrath, CEO Odyssey Social Care
